Roland RD 2000 PHA-50 Plastic + Wood Hybrid Keys
PHA-50, which is Roland’s best key action yet, is installed in RD 2000. The combination of plastic and wood makes the RD 2000 look more natural, The escapement feature is integrated in the PHA-50, which will make players feel the action of an actual piano, because the wood parts will vibrate. It also feels natural when sliding the keys.
*Escapement – the mechanism that allows the hammer to clear the string after striking, so that the string can vibrate (TheFreeDictionary).
The hammers of grand piano are positioned horizontally and therefore get affected by gravity directly, which enables faster key recovery. Hammers of upright pianos are positioned vertically with springs (jack).

History of Roland RD series
RD 1000 was made in 1986, it was the digital piano with the latest technology called “Structured Adaptive” that gave users more authentic sound. RD 1000’s COSM (Component Object Sound Modeling) modeling (Or called V-Piano) which was no full modelling back then. Some players still adhere to use RD 1000 sound. And Roland RD 2000 does have & compatible with all the previous RD-series sounds including legendary RD 1000!
